Voter satellite registration takes place at SM City Mall on September 25
The Bacolod City Election Commission (Comelec) will register voters via satellite at SM City Mall on Saturday, September 25, 2021.
Lawyer Adrian Arellano, who is the interim election official for the city of Bacolod, said registration would begin from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Arellano said only 200 registrants will be welcomed for regular walk-in applicants, and around 100 applicants for priority lanes and people with disabilities and the elderly.
Registrants must bring their valid government identification (ID) card with photos and signatures, as well as an original and photocopy of their birth certificate, he said.
If their residence is not indicated on the ID, they must bring proof of their residence or billing statements, such as water or electricity bills, he also said.
From September 27 to 30, Comelec will register voters at the University of Saint La Salle (USLS) – Bacolod.
Voter registration will begin from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Lawyer Kathrina Trinio-Caña, an election officer for the city of Bacolod, who suffered self-isolation, said they would return to work on September 27 with her staff who were also quarantined.
She said that from that day, there will be no more registration in the offices of Comelec or in shopping centers.
“Our voter registration will only take place at USLS, and we thank them for allowing us to use their facilities so that we can accommodate more registrants,” said Caña.
She said that due to the larger room, on the first day of registration at USLS, Comelec can accommodate 500 registrants for walk-in people and 150 for those in the priority lane.
Trinio-Caña said they will observe their first day at USLS and once they can accommodate more registrants they can increase the number of applicants the following day.
She said they would ensure health protocols are followed at the site, such as wearing face masks, face shields and social distancing.
