The 5 Best City Hotels in Singapore
This year’s World’s Best Awards survey was open to vote from Jan.11 to May 10, 2021, as destinations around the world lift COVID-19 restrictions. Survey rules have always allowed readers to reflect on their travel experiences over a three-year period. We hope this year’s award winners inspire your own travels as you return to the world.
Just like the South East Asia island nation itself, Singapore‘S hotels combine cutting edge modernity with an appreciation of tradition. From skyscrapers like the Ritz-Carlton, Millenia Singapore (# 2), to the glittering Marina Bay district, to the legendary Raffles Singapore (# 4), readers have found places to suit all tastes.
Every year for our The best prices in the world survey, T + L asks readers to provide their thoughts on travel experiences around the world – to share their opinions on the best hotels, resorts, cities, islands, cruise ships, spas, airlines and more. The hotels have been rated about their facilities, location, service, food and overall value. The properties have been categorized as a city or resort based on their location and amenities.

“The true icon of Singapore” was how one reader described Raffles. The hotel, which debuted in 1887 and underwent a two-year renovation from 2017 to 2019, is widely regarded as one of Asia’s most instantly recognizable hotels, thanks to its sparkling white facade. Another exclaimed that a stay there was “truly one of the best hotel experiences I have ever had. The restaurants are amazing, the butler service is top notch and the rooms are so comfortable and elegant “.
Capella Singapore takes third place, with an enviable hilltop location on Sentosa Island that overlooks the Singapore Strait. “It’s the perfect city break,” one reader wrote, describing it as a “mix of the perfect beach and great city life”. Because the property sits on 30 acres, readers say it often looks like a resort – especially the 38 villas, which have their own pools, outdoor showers, and lush gardens.
The real star of the Singapore hotel this year, however, was the Fullerton. Read on to find out more about what made it the favorite and the full list of the best hotels in Singapore.
1. The Fullerton Hotel Singapore
One of Singapore’s great ladies, this neoclassical monument has climbed two notches this year to claim the top spot. Home to various government agencies and a post office when it opened in 1928, the structure was designated a national monument in 2015 and still contains vestiges of its past – the Fullerton Heritage Gallery documents the building’s evolution while guided tours offer exclusive access to the preserved areas in the Hotel. Its 408 rooms, meanwhile, are more contemporary, with sleek furnishings and a crème fraîche, gray, and beige color scheme, and some have views of Marina Bay. Readers especially like the 20-meter swimming pool, which overlooks the Singapore River and the city’s skyscrapers.
