RCMP confront barricaded gunman in house behind Tri City shopping center

An armed man, wanted under Canada-wide warrants, barricaded inside a house in Tri City, was arrested without incident on October 14 at 6 p.m.

Outside that evening, a police negotiator was heard telling people inside the house to pick up a phone that the RCMP placed on the back deck of the residence at the intersection of the 65th Avenue and 47th Street. A police helicopter and drone monitored the situation from above.

People living in the area have been ordered to take shelter in their basements while the RCMP Emergency Response Team, constables trained to resolve extremely high risk situations, from Edmonton was trying to solve the problem.

26-year-old Skylar Ochuschayoo has been charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose; unauthorized possession of a weapon; possession of a prohibited weapon; obstructing a peace office and five counts of possessing a weapon contrary to a court order.
