40 Security Personnel Neutralize “Terrorists” and Free “Hostages” in Shopping Mall

BHOPAL: Security forces neutralized terrorists and freed hostages held by them at the city’s DB shopping center in MP Nagar on Wednesday. Security personnel also defused the bomb that terrorists had placed in the mall to detonate it. The whole exercise was part of a mock counterterrorism exercise conducted to instill public confidence and also to check the readiness of personnel of various agencies in the event of a terrorist attack. No less than 40 security personnel, including the Special Task Force (STF) and Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) team, participated in the simulated exercise. Visitors to the mall were kept away from the area where the exercise was performed.

As part of the mock exercise, the “terrorists” took a few visitors hostage. Security personnel then launched the operation to free the hostages and neutralize the terrorists. Security forces lowered the bomb from a bag on the top floor of the mall to the ground using a rope. Other cops have been seen busy shooting down the “terrorists”. While the BDDS men were busy deactivating the bomb kept in a trash can, STF personnel attacked the terrorists, killing them. All the hostages were safely rescued. The whole operation lasted 45 minutes.
